Quick-start activities from anywhere, GetHomeSafe 4.26.0 and the future of satellite safety

We’re rolling out GetHomeSafe version 4.26.0, bringing powerful new capabilities that keep you safe even when traditional network coverage isn't available. This update represents a significant step forward in our mission to ensure that help is always within reach, regardless of where your work takes you.

How it works: SMS and ZOLEO integration

The headline feature in this release is the ability to quick-start activities directly from your home screen, even when you’re completely out of mobile coverage. Using SMS and ZOLEO integration, you can now initiate your safety check-ins from remote locations where cellular data simply isn’t available.

This means that whether you’re deep in the backcountry, working on an isolated site, or anywhere else beyond the reach of conventional networks, you can still let your team know you’ve started your activity. The system intelligently routes your check-in through available communication channels, ensuring your safety net remains intact.

Emergency response when it matters most

Alongside the quick-start functionality, we’ve also added the ability to trigger a quick-panic alert while out of coverage — provided your account administrator has enabled this feature. This gives lone workers an additional layer of security when operating in areas where getting help quickly could mean the difference between a minor incident and a major emergency.

How to access these features

To take advantage of the new off-grid capabilities, you’ll need to contact your Account Admin to enable SMS data integration. Please note that fair use limits currently apply to these features, and they'll be included as part of our Premium Messaging add-on in future releases.

What’s next: expanding satellite capabilities

We’re continually pushing the boundaries of remote safety, and we’re excited to announce that our 4.26.1 update is scheduled for release later this month. This update will further solidify our commitment to out-of-coverage safety by expanding support to satellite data use for OneNZ users.

Leveraging the emerging Direct-to-Cell technology, OneNZ users will be able to access out-of-coverage features using their standard mobile data settings. For organisations operating in New Zealand’s most remote and isolated areas, this represents an unparalleled level of safety resilience — no additional hardware or specialist equipment required.

Coming soon to the web portal

The next web portal release will introduce two significant new features designed to make team management more flexible and information more accessible.

Team replacements

Managing team leadership transitions is about to become considerably easier. The new Team Replacement feature, accessible through the ‘manage tab’ in the web portal, allows you to perform and schedule Team Leader role transfers between users.

What makes this particularly useful is the flexibility it offers. Replacements can be either permanent or temporary, which is ideal when team leaders need to go on leave without being disturbed by notifications during their time away. You can schedule these transitions in advance, ensuring smooth continuity of coverage even when key personnel are unavailable.

Activity pinned details

We’ve also enhanced how activity information is displayed for Team Leaders. The new Activity Pinned Details feature allows Enterprise Admins to select specific fields to pin on a user’s activity status card. Once pinned, this information will be immediately visible on viewed activities, eliminating the need to scroll down or expand information dropdowns to access critical details.

This improvement directly addresses feedback about accessibility and visibility, making it faster to assess activity status at a glance — particularly valuable during time-sensitive situations.

Rolling out now

Version 4.26.0 is currently rolling out to users, with the web portal features scheduled for our next portal release. As always, we’re committed to building tools that genuinely support the safety and wellbeing of lone workers, wherever their work takes them.

If you have questions about any of these features or need assistance with setup, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Account Admin or our support team.
