When a lone worker sends a safety check-in from a remote site in Queensland, the last thing their supervisor wants to see is an unfamiliar international number. Unrecognised numbers get ignored. International formats create confusion. And carrier delays — or unexpected charges — can mean a critical message never gets the attention it deserves.

Safety communication should feel local. Because your teams are.

That's why we're excited to announce that GetHomeSafe now supports dedicated inbound SMS numbers for Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Local numbers, where your teams actually are

Through our integration with Twilio, organisations can now provision dedicated regional phone numbers in their country of operation. Workers in AU, US, UK, and CA send their check-ins to a local number — one that looks familiar, costs nothing extra to message, and routes through regional carriers without delay.

For Australian organisations, we've also added an SMS shortcode, which delivers messages faster and with higher throughput than a standard long number.

What this means for your organisation

No more international dialling codes

When workers are out in the field — often tired, often under pressure — the last thing they need is friction around who to message. A local number removes that barrier entirely. There are no unfamiliar country codes to navigate, no confusion about whether the number is right. It just works.

No unexpected charges for your workers

Messaging an international number costs more. Sometimes significantly more, especially in areas with roaming. With a local number, workers in each region send SMS at standard local rates — no surprises on their phone bill, and no reason to avoid checking in.

No carrier delays

Messages routed across international networks can introduce latency, or get dropped entirely. Regional numbers route through local infrastructure, which means faster delivery, fewer failures, and safety check-ins that actually arrive.

A natural fit with Offline SMS Fallback

For teams already using [Beta] Offline SMS Fallback, regional inbound numbers integrate directly. That means satellite messengers like Garmin inReach and Zoleo can now be routed to a local number — reducing friction for remote workers who depend on SMS-based check-ins when there's no mobile coverage.

If your teams operate in areas beyond cell service, this combination gives you a resilient, locally-routed communication path from satellite device to supervisor dashboard.

Available now

Inbound SMS numbers for AU, US, UK, and CA are live today. For most users on standard mobile networks, Twilio automatically detects the correct regional number based on where the message originates — no manual configuration required.
